Silk garter belts

A silk garter belt is the kind of piece a wardrobe can go quiet about for months — and then suddenly cannot do without. At YES VERSE we sew ours in our atelier in Bielsko-Biała, from pure mulberry silk, in two guises: Silk Muse in a black as deep as midnight, and in a white that looks as though it were made for one very particular day. Two colours, one meticulously built design — and a surprising number of evenings on which the garter belt turns out to be the most considered part of the outfit.

Wearing one is simpler than its reputation suggests. The belt sits low on the hips, not at the waist, so that the adjustable suspenders run vertically — two at the front, two at the back — and clip onto the lace top of the stocking. Underwear goes over the straps, not beneath them; a detail usually appreciated only late in the evening, and the one that decides all the comfort. It looks most beautiful with stockings finished in a wide band of lace: our Noir Lace hold-ups can be worn with a belt too — the silicone band then becomes a discreet backup while the suspenders carry the weight.

The fabric matters more here than usual, because a garter belt works all day: it tenses, shifts, holds. Mulberry silk is light and breathable yet surprisingly strong — it lies flat against the skin, leaves no imprint under a pencil skirt or an evening dress, and never crackles with static the way synthetics do. Its sheen only shows up close. Which is precisely the point.

Choose your size by hip measurement, not waist — it is on the hips that the belt should sit securely without ever digging in. Our sizes follow the European standard from S to XL, and every product page carries a chart with exact measurements. The suspender length adjusts independently, so between two sizes it is the measurement, not the silhouette, that decides. If in doubt, write to us — we are happy to advise.

The black garter belt is evening classicism: the opera, a long dinner, any occasion where the outfit keeps a second, hidden layer of meaning. The white one composes naturally into a bridal set — under the gown it will hold stockings through a dozen hours of dancing more surely than any silicone. Afterwards, a little care is all it asks: a hand wash in cold water with a gentle silk detergent, dried flat and away from the sun. Silk looked after this way will keep returning to its place for years.
